There's a Lancia Scorpion for sale in my city. A real live Lancia Scorpion. Yes I know the US version was neutered and it would be horribly unreliable and blah blah I want it.

It's not like it's impossible to give it its balls back.

Dated a woman who had one ... no. Just no. Unless you win the lottery.

Exactly, the main problem is I already have too many cars, and can't afford another one

Looks like it has been sitting, scary.
Owning a car like this, you gotta know how to work on a car. Sending this car to a shop to get work done would kill you slowly. Working out the bugs and figuring out what is wrong and what will go wrong can make this a fun little car after your done with it.
I don't know what really goes wrong with these cars, but i see them as a car you'd own for a year and then move onto another one.
Another way to look at this car in a extreme way is to say to your self, "Can i lose $5500?". Do enjoy.

It's something I'd like to jump on because of the rarity, but I'm not in a position to do so, so it'll just be another thing I found on craigslist...I already do most of my work on my cars, it'd be interesting to learn how a mid engined Lancia works, also probably terrifying haha

Haha it's more of a self-control problem...I don't make a lot of money, I just spend most of it on cars

Me, well I have a little too much self control. I have the cash to buy something fun on the cheap but totally unwilling to pull the trigger, because of college and payments for my current DD.

Those are pretty reasonable reasons, but I do recommend cheap fun things , especially if you have a reliable DD already

Wow that is a deep hole to shovel money into. My 240Z is easy to work on, lots of parts, reliable and I still spend money on it.

Oh definitely and my Silverado has been bullet-proof.

The car is as near as makes no difference 40 years old. Lancia abandoned the US market ... 35 years ago? You will need parts. Lots and lots of parts. If you want mid-engined, buy a high-mileage Boxter. Remember, I dated a woman who had one. She even had trouble finding a mechanic who would touch the thing.

This is one of those cars that will be worth a lot in the future if you have the means to restore it and keep it stock. If you don't, then an engine swap (and reduced eventual appreciation) is your only option to not be nickle and dimed to death on it.

Looks decent. Take the chance ! It will at least be the most beautiful, and memorable you'll have ever owned.
